I hope this message finds you well. I’ve just completed my first week on staff as JCUA’s new Community Development Manager, where I’ll be leading our work to strengthen neighborhoods across Chicago.
Though I’m new to the staff, I’m certainly not new to JCUA! When I first became a member in 2018, I found a community like nothing I had experienced before. Not only did I gain new friendships, text-based spiritual insights, and a beautiful vision for immigration, racial, and economic justice, my participation in the Immigration Committee revealed to me my civic power, our collective power, and how to leverage both to pursue justice and liberation.
Community development is a critical part of JCUA’s work to build a city where everyone can flourish. I’m excited to take on a role managing our Community Ventures Program (CVP), whose unique model provides a powerful vehicle to make our progressive values and vision concrete. CVP’s reach and impact has grown tremendously in the past few years (check out all our active projects!), and I’m looking forward to working with our members, partners, and the CVP Advisory Committee to expand this work.
You can read more about me here. I’m so excited to be at JCUA pursuing racial and economic justice alongside all of you. Please reach out at firstname.lastname@example.org – I would love to connect!
