This ordinance, sponsored by Alderman Harry Osterman and Alderman Roderick Sawyer, was created over 2 years of deep community engagement and hard work by GAPA supporters, endorsers and allies. It gives community members a direct role in making key decisions about police leadership and creates meaningful checks on current institutions responsible for police conduct.

JCUA is proud to have been a part of creating this transformative plan meant to shift the culture of police accountability in Chicago, creating community and police relationships that will make Chicago a safer city for all.
