The Raise Up IL coalition has introduced a package of bills that would generate billions of dollars in revenue by ending tax breaks for big corporations and ultra-wealthy individuals — and we’re demanding this revenue be used to fund expanded childcare, the Community Care Program for seniors, K-12 education, immigrant support services, tax relief for working people, and affordable housing.
This is a regular meeting of the JCUA Organizing Fellowship yearly cohort for college-aged young folks. Please reach out to Mara Wolkoff (mara@jcua.org) with questions or interest.

As part of Grassroots Collaborative’s involvement in the Raise Up IL campaign, we are supporting a package of 8 proposals, which would raise over 2 billion dollars by ending tax breaks for big corporations and ultra-wealthy individuals who have gotten richer over the pandemic. We are calling for this money to be invested in long-term programs for our community: K-12 education, childcare, the community care program, housing, immigrant support services, and tax relief for working families.
We know our communities cannot wait. We need action now.
Join us for our on-going series, The Torah of Organizing with Rabbi Aryeh Bernstein. In this session, we’ll explore what the Torah has to say about housing. This will be an interactive, chavruta (paired-learning) event. This will be an all-levels-are-welcome space, so if you’ve never explored Torah in this way before, this is a perfect place to start. All you need is curiosity and the desire to learn with other JCUA community members!
