JCUA Immigration Committee members are hosting watch parties of the docu-series Immigration Nation. This 6-part series is a deep dive into the immigration system in the United States, including unparalleled access to footage of ICE operations. Each Sunday afternoon we’ll watch one episode together and then have a 30-minute guided discussion. We hope these watch parties will help our community understand and prepare to disrupt the injustices of the American immigration system.

Kicking off the selection process for JCUA’s new campaign, we will have a brief training on problems vs. issues vs. campaigns, and build a shared understanding of the priority issue areas for JCUA members. We will then review JCUA’s Campaign Criteria and talk about the next phase of the process: campaign proposals.
This is our monthly meeting for our Police Accountability Committee, with an orientation for first-time attendees at 5:30 pm. Email avra@jcua.org for more information and to RSVP.
Please note, committee meetings are for members. Become a member here.

Join the first 43rd/44th ward (Lincoln Park and Lakeview) base building meeting to build relationships with Jewish neighbors who share your values, get involved in JCUA’s local political work, and learn about the history and importance of base building power in your neighborhood!
No prior JCUA involvement necessary. We’d love to see anyone who lives in the 43rd or 44th ward, or has a connection to the area.
Join us for a trivia event on Sunday, January 31, where you can show off your knowledge of Famous Jews of Color, Civil Rights History, Chicago Fun Facts, and other topics!
This event is hosted by JCUA’s Kol Or Caucus for Jews of Color.
JCUA members and staff will bring forward campaign proposals for review, discussion, and prioritization based in JCUA’s Campaign Criteria. We will also establish future meeting needs and processes.
On Sunday, February 7th all are welcome to join us for a day of learning on racial justice as a Chicagoland Jewish community. This day will be multifaceted and have programming for all ages. It will provide space to speak about white supremacy, to discuss the nature of racism in Jewish life, and to hold up the diversity of our Jewish community. We will begin with prayer and reflection and then learn from many teachers, most of whom identify as Jews of Color (JOC). Participants are welcome to join for one session, a few or all day!

JCUA is hosting a Racial Justice training for its congregation partner members.
Or Tzedek interns and other youth involved in JCUA’s organizing work will come together to complete their own campaign selection process and decide where they want to invest youth energy next.
JCUA members and staff will discuss campaign proposals based in JCUA’s Campaign Criteria.
Register here to join us on Thursday 3/25 from 3-4PM for Q&A about the details and implications of the criminal justice reform bill recently passed by the Illinois legislature.
Beckee Birger (Director of Education and Movement Building, JCUA) and Khadine Bennett (Director of Advocacy and Intergovernmental Affairs, ACLU-IL) will discuss how the bill relates to police accountability measures, what implementation will involve, and what we need to continue organizing around even after this bill passes.
We will send out a Zoom link before the event.
This is an additional Campaign Selection Process meeting. From 3:00-4:00 we will share the video of the presentations from the February 23 CSP Meeting #3, and then from 4:00-5:00 we will have open space for discussion and questions among members. We hope the additional discussion space on Sunday will allow JCUA members to check in with one another about the campaigns prior to the vote closing on Monday at 5:00 pm.
You can register here for this meeting.
