Join JCUA’s North Suburban Organizing Team and Am Shalom’s Social Action Committee for a screening of The Power of Us: Confronting Our Climate Crisis, a documentary about the intergenerational climate justice movement created by Am Shalom members Jim and Anne Goodman. We will screen the film, followed by remarks from Jim and Anne, and then hear from various IL-based environmental justice organizations about how we can take action to fight for our planet right now in IL. Join for a night of learning, discussion, and action.
Bring Chicago Home campaign is hosting a virtual town hall meeting on Thursday, October 13th to discuss the homelessness crisis in Chicago, how we are falling short as a city at addressing it, and how the BCH resolution can help remedy that shortfall. This will be held on Zoom and you are welcome to join from your home. We are also looking for people willing to host small watch parties at their home or larger watch parties at their synagogue or other community.
Register here and please indicate how you would like to participate.
Join Chicagoland Jewish organizations for an evening of social justice in a sukkah. Sukkot is a harvest festival commemorating the memory of the Israelites seeking shelter in temporary huts while wandering in the desert after the Exodus from Egypt. Together, we will gather in a sukkah (temporary hut or booth) where we will enjoy food, learning and community.
Our evening will be centered around the “Bring Chicago Home,” an initiative aimed at ending homelessness in Chicago.
KAMII, 18 Doors, JCUA, Keshet for LGBTQ+ Equality, Moishe House, and Repair the World are excited to have you join us! Teachers from these partner organizations will share what Judaism can teach us about committing to tikkun olam, repairing the world.
