July Public Safety Committee Meeting
Jul 21 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Please join us for our  monthly meeting of the Community Safety Committee (formerly the Police Accountability Committee). Whether you are a regular or this is your first time, we would love to see you. Please register for the meeting here.

Our Jewish community is diverse, and some of us have stake in this issue because the color of our skin or where we live means we are more likely to face police misconduct. Some of us are compelled by this issue because of our history. Jews around the world descend from people that experienced state sanctioned violence, including pogroms, inquisitions, and genocide. Some of us feel these consequences as social workers, lawyers, and community organizers with relationships to heavily policed and systemically divested communities. As Jews, we feel we must take a stand because our tradition teaches us that all people are created in the image of God. To stay silent in the face of such injustice endangers our own humanity.

JCUA Immigration Committee Meeting @ TBD
Aug 3 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
The Torah of Organizing 2021: Wealth & Class @ Buckingham Fountain
Aug 8 @ 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm

Please register here for our on-going series “The Torah of Organizing,” with Rabbi Aryeh Bernstein. In this session, we’ll explore what the Torah has to say about wealth and wealth redistribution. This will be an interactive, havruta (paired-learning) event. This will be an all-levels-are-welcome space, so if you’ve never explored Torah in this way before, this is a perfect place to start. All you need is curiosity and the desire to learn with other JCUA community members!
