Learn about the history of displacement and grassroots activism in your neighborhood! Join JCUA, Base Hillel, and Mitziut for a book talk on The Battle of Lincoln Park: Urban Renewal and Gentrification in Chicago with author Daniel Kay Hertz.
As we continue to mourn the loss of JCUA founder Rabbi Robert J. Marx (z’’l) — who passed away on March 28 at the age of 93 — we are overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support from the many people Rabbi Marx knew and inspired.
JCUA will be gathering on Thursday, April 8 at 6:30 pm to share memories of Rabbi Marx. Please join us for this informal event led by Rabbi Bruce Elder of Congregation Hakafa to share reflections about the rabbi, teacher, and lifelong champion for justice. Register here.
Register here for a new member orientation!
If you are new to JCUA in the last few months and feel like you’re still finding your place (even if you’ve already had a 1:1 or been to a committee meeting), then this is the right place for you!
In this one hour call, JCUA staff, currently involved members, and new members will come together and learn about who makes up the JCUA community and how JCUA actually works, from learning about coalitions and committees to getting familiar with some basic building blocks of organizing.
Monthly Youth Organizing Caucus meeting for any high school students in the Chicago area. Reach out to Mara (firstname.lastname@example.org) with questions or interest!
Acts of Change is when our entire community comes together to recognize JCUA as Chicago’s Jewish voice for social justice. Featuring music, keynote speakers, and special guests, we will celebrate our recent victories and recommit to the work of transforming Chicago into a place that takes caBrire of all its residents.
