Applications are now open for JCUA’s youth leadership program

For generations, Jewish youth have been at the forefront of movements for change — from Bundists organizing Jewish workers in the early 20th century to Jewish Freedom Riders fighting for civil rights in the 1960s. That legacy continues today as youth take on important issues facing our region and larger world.

At JCUA, we prioritize youth leadership because we believe that teens and young adults are essential to building a more just future. We also know that our multigenerational community is stronger and more visionary when youth are shaping and leading our work.

We’re pleased to announce that applications are now open for Or Tzedek, JCUA’s ten-month program for high school students. If you are or you know a Jewish teen who’s passionate about social justice and excited to take action, Or Tzedek is an amazing opportunity.

Or Tzedek participants:

  • Learn community organizing skills through a Jewish framework
  • Deepen their understanding of social justice from a systemic, root-cause perspective
  • Participate in JCUA’s grassroots campaigns around community safety, housing justice, and immigration
  • Build a justice-oriented Jewish community with other teens

The upcoming Or Tzedek cohort will run from September 2025 to May 2026. Participants meet twice a month on Sunday afternoons and commit about 6–10 hours per month, including workshops and campaign actions. One weekend Shabbaton will also be held during the year. Participants receive a small stipend in recognition of their time and commitment.

📅 Early decision deadline: June 8
