Over the past month, we’ve seen refugee arrivals stop abruptly, people’s right to seek asylum suppressed, and threats of mass deportation terrorize immigrant communities. As allies of immigrants and refugees and as Jews, it is important for us to come together to reaffirm our commitment to welcoming the stranger. On Sunday, March 23 from 5:00 – 6:30 pm, join HIAS, JCUA, and JUF to learn about the local impact of recent policy changes and executive orders, and how you can take action to support our neighbors seeking safety and refuge. We will be joined by Rabbi Sarah Bassin, HIAS’ National Rabbi-in-Residence, to ground us in Jewish text and the national landscape, as well as representatives from our local Chicago and IL-based organizations to provide ways for you to take action in support of IL’s immigrant and refugee communities.
