Housing Justice Shabbat Dinner and Torah Salon with JCUA at Base Logan Square
November 13 @ 7:30 pm
Join Base Logan Square and JCUA for a housing justice Torah learning over Shabbat dinner! Housing is an issue that impacts us all whether you rent currently or not. Even though housing looked very different in the ancient world, the Torah actually has a lot to say about tenancy, the rights of renters and landlords. Over dinner, we will look at the laws of eviction and the conditions under which someone can or cannot be evicted. What emerges from these texts are concerns about well-being and how the community cares for its members. We will also hear from JCUA about ongoing campaigns for tenants’ rights in Chicago and how you can take action. All are welcome! Details and address provided the day before the program. Base Logan Square is proudly a part of Silverstein Base Chicago.
