JCUA partners with Pilsen Housing Cooperative (PIHCO)

JCUA is proud to announce a partnership with Pilsen Housing Cooperative (PIHCO) as it expands its presence in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. PIHCO is an anti-displacement initiative created by and for Pilsen artists and families with deep ties to the neighborhood. It is currently comprised of 18 households across three buildings. Through its growth, PIHCO is working to maintain the long-term affordability of housing in Pilsen.

Through the Community Ventures Program (CVP), JCUA has provided a $100,000 zero-interest loan to cover predevelopment costs for PIHCO’s expansion into its new properties at 1716 S. Morgan and 18th & Peoria. The organization has already been awarded two Community Wealth Building predevelopment grants from the city to explore these expansion opportunities. JCUA’s loan will serve as bridge financing for the co-op as it awaits reimbursements from the city.
